This decadent Chocolate Peanut Butter Mug Cake tastes just like a slice of chocolate cake, but it takes so much less work to make and is ready in 5 minutes. Just whisk the ingredients together, pop it in the microwave, and enjoy that rich chocolate-y goodness!

Why You’ll Love This Rich Chocolate Peanut Butter Mug Cake

So why should you make this easy little treat? Here are just five reasons you’ll love it!

  • Quick: If you’re like me, you love a slice of cake for a treat or snack – but you don’t always have time for making, you know, a whole cake. With this recipe, you can have your cake and eat it too, in just 5 minutes!
  • Individual: This is also great if you don’t want to have a whole big cake sitting around. An individual portion with practically no effort? Sign me up.
  • Sweet and Salty: The combination of rich, sweet chocolate and creamy, salty peanut butter is just irresistible! Add a little whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream on top and it’s pure decadence!
  • Ultra Easy: Stir, microwave, and eat! Seriously, this recipe couldn’t get any easier! It also uses kitchen staple ingredients that you likely already have on hand.
  • Perfect Texture: Unlike all those other mug cakes you have made, this one has the texture of a real cake, not a sponge!

Recipe Ingredients

Just a few simple ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen! For full ingredient amounts and directions, scroll to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

  • Flour: All-purpose flour is the basis of this easy mug cake.
  • Sugar: Regular granulated sugar is fine, or you could use brown sugar.
  • Cocoa Powder: Infuses rich chocolate flavor into the cake, giving it that indulgent taste.
  • Baking Powder: Helps the cake rise and become fluffy. Don’t use baking soda.
  • Salt: Just a pinch enhances the chocolate and peanut butter taste.
  • Milk: Adds moisture to the cake batter, ensuring it stays tender and soft as it cooks. I highly recommend using whole milk, because the higher fat content will create a better cake.
  • Oil: Vegetable oil, or another neutral oil. Oil keeps the cake moist but not heavy. You can also use melted butter in it’s place, but the cake will be just a little dryer.
  • Peanut Butter: Adds a creamy, nutty richness to the cake. You can use chunky or creamy peanut butter. You can also sub it for any other nut butter you enjoy, like almond butter.

How to Make Chocolate Peanut Butter Mug Cake

This easy recipe is so simple, you practically don’t need any instructions. It’s as simple as mix and microwave!

  • Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large mug, use a small whisk or a fork to mix the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt).
  • Add the Wet Ingredients: Add the milk, vegetable oil, and peanut butter. Stir until smooth.
  • Microwave: Cook in the microwave on high for 1 minute and 10 seconds. This recipe will rise a lot and then deflate. I know it’s strange, but trust me, it’s delicious!

Why Do Mug Cakes Never Work?

For me, the main problem with most of the mug cake recipes I’ve tried boils down to one thing: texture. It’s not too hard to get a cake that’s sweet enough, or moist enough, or flavorful enough. The problem is getting it light and fluffy.

It took me a long time to figure out how to get rid of the bad, spongy texture of most mug cakes. The “lightbulb moment” came when my friend, Erin, posted a recipe she came up with for banana nutella microwave brownie. I noticed that it didn’t contain any eggs, and that just made sense to me. So I tried making mug cakes without egg as well, and voila! The texture problem was fixed!

What Is a Good Substitute for Milk in a Mug Cake?

Okay, so a lot of mug cakes call for a little bit of milk, including this one. But if you don’t have milk on hand, or just need a dairy-free recipe, you can totally substitute. Any non-dairy milk substitute, or even just water, will work. You can use unsweetened brewed coffee, to help deepen the flavor of the chocolate and make it almost like a mocha cake.

Recipe Tips and Variations

I’ve already talked about my egg-less mug cake discovery, but I also have a few more tips to share. Read on, and enjoy!

  • Use a Big Mug: Make sure you use a roomy mug so that the batter doesn’t overflow.
  • Stir Well: You don’t want to end up with dry bits of flour or baking powder in your cake, so be sure to stir the batter really well. A mini whisk makes this super easy, but a fork will also work.
  • Mix-Ins: Sometimes I like to stir in mini marshmallows or some chopped walnuts to add a little something different. Add both, and it’s like a Rocky Road Mug Cake.
  • Toppings: Feel free to add a scoop of ice cream, powdered sugar, or even some chocolate frosting to this cake when it’s done. Or add a dollop of whipped cream and a peanut butter drizzle, like you see here in the photos!

Storing Leftover Mug Cake

I can’t imagine you will have leftovers! But just in case, yes you can store a leftover chocolate peanut butter mug cake! Allow it to cool completely, then cover it with plastic wrap (or scoop it out and transfer it to an airtight container). Refrigerate for up to 1-2 days.

If you’d like to reheat it, just place it in the microwave for a few seconds! Be careful not to overcook it, or it might get tough or dry.

I’ve never made nor seen a mug cake recipe with an egg in it. That’s absurd.

While the texture of this eggless recipe was a pass (and the same as other recipes I’ve tried), it tasted like crap. It was not sweet at all, not chocolatey and not peanut butter-y in the least. Just make a real cake and exercise some self control, folks.

    1. Saristotle

Agreed! So bitter and it stayed the same texture as when I mixed it, even after four minutes of microwaving in 30 second intervals. So weird. Maybe it was the age of my cocoa, but I’d at least double the sugar next time!

  2. Diedra

I am obsessed with this! I replace the oil with melted butter and add a teaspoon or two of applesauce for moisture plus a tablespoon more of peanut butter! This is my addiction

  3. Carolyn

Well that was yummy! I’m so glad there isn’t a whole pan full waiting for me!
Now I need a single serving sticky bun and all my cravings can be satisfied.

  4. Ann

You cracked the mug-cake code! I too tried one years ago with the egg in it. it was gross- eggy, spongy, and stuck so bad! I had to soak it forever to clean it. Until now I tried yours and bam! It was great except I didn’t believe it was ready at 1 min 10 sec, and I gave it an extra 20 seconds. Big mistake, it was a little too dry. But pretty close to perfect! Next time I will follow your recipe exactly.

  5. Angie

U must have done something wrong. I’ve made this mug cake over 100 times and it’s never turned out anything but yummy! Gooey, warm and delicious!

  6. Patricia Easley

I just tried the peanut butter/ chocolate mug cake. It was very good. I added a scoop of ice cream. I will be making this again. No worry about a big cake going old. Just enough cake for little dessert treat.

  7. RJ

In a word, AMAZING. I have found that in my generously-sized coffee mugs, this cake rises & stays pretty – doesn’t deflate a bit. Silky crumb. SO yum.

On a whim, I once subbed unsweetened natural strength lemon powder in for the cocoa and raspberry jam swirled in for the peanut butter… Lol-do NOT do that! Not a good idea. Not at all

  8. Kat

Only discovered your recipe recently but I make it all the time and it is DELICIOUS, thanks for making my evenings so tasty xx

  9. Emma

Just tried this recipe and it’s ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!  Will perhaps make it again this evening for dessert for the other half, to see what he thinks..

  10. Phyllis

I have never made a mug cake before – but the idea of chocolate/ peanut butter and 1 min 10 secs was too good to resist.  I could not believe it. So easy to make and absolutely delicious. I’ll be surprising my grandchildren with these excellent recipes. Thank you !

  11. Izabela

This is the best mug cake that I have ever made! Not the exact replica of cake texture, but the closest for a mug cake that I have ever made. I put mind in 20 seconds longer because it was too moist the first time at 70 seconds. Thanks!

  12. Drawn & Buttered

OK, I made this and it is my new go-to mug cake. The texture is great — nice and gooey. I think the fact that it doesn’t use an egg is definitely the secret to this one. Thanks for sharing!

  13. csmithy1982

So mine like fell apart as I popped it out of the mug (I’m sure I did something wrong), but it was still a weirdly perfect texture and super tasty for a mug cake (probably my favorite so far). THANK YOU

  14. Meem

This is THE best mug cake recipe I’ve come across so far. <3

The only recommendation I have is to use sugar that's fine or use honey instead. I used granulated sugar but I could feel the crunch of the crystals in my mouth while eating the cake (not entirely unpleasant but unexpected).

But so delicious! The peanut butter makes a huge difference. Thank you so much. This is now my go to mug cake recipe. How will I resist making them every week when there's peanut butter in the house?

  15. Linda

This was my second attempt at making a mug cake, and this recipe by far was the best; it was absolutely delicious! I poured the mixture into two 4oz-cup ramekins and they rose beautifully (at 1 minute and 10 seconds in the microwave). Thank you for the recipe!

  16. Jessica | Magnets from Everywhere

Made two of these last night and we ate them with vanilla ice cream and some fresh blackberries. Yum! I substituted a little empty butter for the vegetable oil (because I’m healthy like that )

The portions were a little large but I’m planning to go home and finish them off now.

    Thanks for the yum!

  17. Lauren

This is he best mug cake ever! I used sunflower butter instead of peanut butter( I  despise peanut butter). Turned out great. I’m definitely going to make this again.

  18. Marcia

I may or may not have spent the last two nights trying chocolate mug cakes (lol) and they were all sooo terrible.

    FINALLY!
I’m going to save this recipe for ever and ever.
Just made it and it came out perfect.
    Yummy!!

  19. Kiri Minney

This was perfect! I didn’t have enough cocoa powder so I used Ghirardelli white chocolate powder instead. Def need to cook a tiny but longer because of that but omg so good. I changed it up and used cookie butter and mini marshmallows then tossed a spoonful of cookie butter on top afterwards. I needed this after trying to break my leg hours earlier!

    1. A woman holding a camera standing in front of some shelves.
      Jessica

If you wish to remove the cocoa powder, I would add more flour in it’s place or the dry to wet ratio will be off.

    2. Sue

      5 stars
Couldn’t believe it would work but it was fab. Made it in a small Pyrex bowl and it served two with ice cream. Hubby was amazed at how quickly I made us dessert. Only change was I cooked it for 1 min 30 seconds on 900w

  20. Mercedes

Love this recipe!! I just added a little more milk,  and it was PERFECT,
Put some vanilla ice-cream with it, and it’s even more PERFECT!!
    Thx for sharing

  21. Claire Griffith

Mug cakes are inherently dry, but this was the driest one I’ve every made! I followed the recipe exactly, even added a bit more milk, but when I took it out, it literally crumbled in my fingers. Needs more liquid.

  22. Andrea

Nearly ate it before it was cooked… smelled so good.

I added 2 tablespoons of crunchy peanut butter and less oil and milk. It was a delicious looking paste after mixing and I considered rolling it into truffles and then rolling them in shredded coconut.

But alas it was late in the day so I just microwaved it and ate it.

However I may transform it into truffles in future! Double recipe :)

  23. Meda Rochelle

Found a confectioner’s sugar glaze to top it off, so good! Agree with everyone else, the no egg policy is FANTASTIC. Love this so much!

  24. Melly Mel

Yup, yup, yup…best mug cake so far. My son and I have been experimenting and this has been the best consistency. I added a few chocolate chips on top, and used crunchy peanut butter. I wouldn’t use crunchy, since microwaving the peanut chunks made them kinda chewy, but definitely a must for chocolate + peanut butter lovers.

  25. Ola

I made it.. So tasty n chocolaty I love it,, it just was very difficult to mix so dry I had to double the milk amount n it was still kinda thick any suggestions?

    1. A woman holding a camera standing in front of some shelves.
      Jessica

Did you possibly miss the addition of the vegetable oil? The milk and vegetable oil add up to over 1/4 cup of liquid so it shouldn’t be hard to stir. Glad it still turned out well for you!

    1. A woman holding a camera standing in front of some shelves.
      Jessica

I honestly do not know – I always use all purpose flour. However if you try it, I would love to know your results for other commenters! :-)

  26. Juliana

This was great! I added some tollhouse mini morsels to give it a little more chocolate goo. For some reason a lot of the peanut butter flavor sunk to the bottom, but if you give it a good mix, it’s just right! Pretty sure I ate it a little too fast…

  27. Michelle

This was gross, good thing I added some peanut butter frosting, the frosting was all I ate. I think it would taste better with coconut oil…

  28. Sydney

I just made this and its definitely the best mug cake I’ve ever had! The texture on other cakes never came out just right, but this is perfect and moist. My only comment is that the peanut butter is hard to taste.
    Thanks for the recipe!

  29. Ashley

I just made this and it’s amazing!!!! I’ve never tried a mug cake, but I was going crazy for something chocolate and thank goodness I fumbled on this recipe!!!! Next time I’m going to add chocolate chips and marshmallows! Thank you so much! -Ashley

  30. Angie

I just tried this recipe and I am so impressed! I ended up doing 1 minute and 20 seconds for my microwave and then drizzled some dark chocolate syrup on top. It tasted like fluffy fudge!
It’s also very filling if you ask me! 1 mug is a more than satisfying treat!

  31. Cary

I just made this recipe. I used a 1000 watt small microwave, followed the instructions exactly. The cake was ok but came out somewhat dry and did not have enough chocolate flavor for me. I will try the recipe again and use less cook time or add more peanut butter and perhaps some chocolate chips, to see if this helps it to not taste so dry.

I have made many cake or cookie in a cup recipes. For those who have to work and take their lunch, you can make these recipes in a wide mouth Mason jar, place a lid on it and then take it to work or school, for a quick snack or lunchtime dessert.

  32. Jake

Used about a tsp more milk (maybe a little bit more) because it seemed really thick. I feel like this would taste better if there were chocolate chips in it, it was really delicious but at the same time it was bland, and i think if a little something was added it would just bring out the true tastefulness of this cake.

  33. Niloufer

Loved yr cake though I added a tbsp extra milk n oil since the mixture was looking too dry initially,it came up yummm. Tried another recipe alongside n yours was better for sure!! Thanks a million!

  34. Cheryl

I was looking for a mug cake my Sunday school kids could do for Father’s Day. Now, all I’ll have to do is to help them measure the dry ingredients, and give them the (new, washed) mugs, and the recipe, and voila! They have a gift they can do on their own, or with their dads! Thank you so much!

  35. Snw_Bne

I’ve never made a mug cake, knowing it would be dangerous to my waistline… However, I was tempted and gave in. This is so good!! Better put a lock on the baking cabinet!

  36. Amy

Holy yum. I am totally in love with this recipe. It’s the perfect balance of peanut butter and chocolate, but still not incredibly unhealthy for you, and with walnuts thrown in, it’s even better. It’s easy to make in a short amount of time and absolutely delicious. Thank you!

  37. Sarah

I used to make this recipe all the time, and I was feeling down tonight so decided to make it again.. I was out of creamy pb so I had to borrow some chunky pb from my roommate and I threw an extra glob in the middle of the batter so it just kind of melted in the center of the cake and it turned out awesome.

  38. Vijaya

First attempt at mug cake, was thrilled i could make one in a jiffy and tasty as well. Instead of peanut butter I added some walnuts. My husband and I are not cake cravers but want to have one off and this mug cake is perfect for that.

  39. Claudine

This is the best mug cake ever!!! I cant believe I made this under 5 mins the texture is not like other mug cake that is too mushy it almost like a regular pound cake. I use lotus spread instead of peanut butter. Hope you will post more mug cake recipe :-)

  40. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake

No egg… I feel where you are going with this. I definitely need to try it, because that texture thing is exactly what has made me reticent to try mug cakes in the past. Awesome solution!

  41. RaeRae

Just made this for hubby…tweaked it and added 1tbsp of fluff to the mix. Then added a layer to the top…waiting to hear about it…

  42. Kenzi

This is awesome, I’ve made it twice today. Stirred through some banana and chocolate fudge sauce before cooking and topped it with vanilla ice cream – divine!!!

  43. wafaa ansari

Just read it and made it immediately. I didnt have any milk so i used water instead and that too 5 tablespoons and microwaved it for 3 minutes. It’s delicious

  44. Dora Mari

Ummmm just made it! It is delicious….mine did not fall….I drizzled caramel sauce on it. This is my very first mug cake….love there is no egg in it….thank you!

  45. Caitlynn

This was my first mug cake and I’ll admit that I was skeptical but it is amazing I’m impressed it is delicious and there’s no brown sugar ;-) allergy resistant .

  46. leighton

Just on a whim decided to give this a try as I needed some chocolate and peanut butter in my life! Made them for me, my mother and father and they are amazing! Need to make these again and get some cream! Have a play with flavours ect… bye bye waist watching for a few weeks! ive found a new love! :)

  47. Lizzy

Oh my gosh. My mouth is literally watering! This will be my first mug cake so fingers are crossed for a good turnout. Any tips?

  48. Charlotte

I’ve just made this- my first ever mug cake- and it was amazing! I subbed peanut butter for Nutella and it was so moist.
My only regret is not having any ice cream to serve it with!
I’ll definitely be making this again!

    Thanks so much!

    Charlotte x

  49. Rebecca

I’ve seen this recipe and finally decided to try it! Love it! I used pumpkin purée instead of oil, almond milk, and honey peanut butter. Turned out great! However, I think my baking powder is old since it was more on the raw side. However, I still loved it! Thank you!

  50. Cozdragon

Been looking at this for a couple of days. Just made it, and ate it. Gorgeous! Thank you for sharing.
    Cx

PS Eating it with some fresh mango did mean it had no calories – right? ;)

  51. Cutielover

Even if it looks weird, I loved it and mu best friend also :)
This is just the perfect desert, but do not eat too much, it’s also heavy :)

  52. Sharon Hansen

My husband is a dessert junkie. Often times I don’t have time to make him dinner as well as a dessert. I came across this recipe a couple of months ago. It was okay but I thought it should have some egg in it. Since I make cakes a lot, I knew of a way to put just a tad bit of egg into this recipe without wasting a whole egg. I added 1/2 tsp of meringue powder to the recipe and I think it comes out perfect!

  53. stef

I have made this cake last night and tonight!..I have never made a mug cake before but was looking for a simple recipe.. well i found the awesome recipe and it is absolutely delicious!!.. When I made it this evening I topped it up with some melted chocolate and marshmallows. Yuum!!

  54. Tianna

Hi I’ve made this mug cake i don’t know how many times (love it that much) but do you have a recipe for making it in a bigger quantity, like a full size actual cake? I’d love to have it if you do!

  55. Rey

As of today, I have made this three times. After seeing how good it was the first time, I quadrupled the recipe and started putting the mix into ramekins. Quadrupling allows me to do 6 ramekins, for sharing … Or for eating the next day.

I played around with it as well, now I really load it up with peanut butter, which I think makes it super moist. I also put in some chocolates and marshmallows for the sheer fun of it.

    I love it.

  56. Dena

Tried this last night after trying the red velvet the night before. My daughter and I were disappointed with this one. It was drier and you needed a drink after every bite. We will stick w/ the red velvet :)

  57. Claire

I found this recipe whilst browsing for something to help with my peanut butter and banana craving. Just made it for myself and my husband, I added a 3rd mashed banana to each and a teaspoon of peanut butter on top and pushed down slightly just before microwaving which resulted in a yummy melted peanut butter core. Used the rest if the banana as slices on top. Totally hit the spot and hubby was impressed too x

    1. A woman holding a camera standing in front of some shelves.
      Jessica

It would loose some of the creamy factor, but I don’t think it would be totally awful. However if you are just trying to avoid lactose – you could definitely use coconut milk or almond milk instead!

  58. Esen

Oh my God! This is the first time I’ve ever tried to make/eat a mug cake. I wanted to create a mini surprise for my husband while we were working and did not have many time or ingredients handy. We loved it! It is so easy to make, so you don’t have to disappear into the kitchen for hours for that sweet tooth surprise and it just might be the best cake I’ve had for a long time! Thank you so much for sharing :)

  59. hendrina

my first attempt at microwave cake and all i can say is wow!!!! yum yum yum, i love it. I had to add a bit more milk than the recipe suggests though (because it was looking a bit too dry), but it was the right softness.

  60. Shannon

I tried this on a whim. have never been on this site before, just googled mug cakes because id seen them somewhere before and was craving a goodie. I think I screwed up with the chocolate, because mine is seriously lacking in the chocolate department – however, it tastes like a peanut butter cookie, so im not upset ^_^

    1. A woman holding a camera standing in front of some shelves.
      Jessica

I have not personally tried it with oats (or know anyone who has). Let me know if you do and what the results are!

  61. Erin

This was so good! I’ve tried a couple of mug cakes lately this was by FAR the best, great texture and nice and chocolaty without being overly sweet. I used butter instead of oil because I don’t like the taste that you get with oil, I also decided to put the peanut butter in the middle of the batter not mixed in which was so good it came out all gooey and yummy. I microwaved mine for 1 minute in a 1100W microwave and served with some cream on top. This was so perfect I’m actually contemplating another!! THANKYOU!!

  62. Yariwari

Ok, I have a confession to make. I have spent 6 day in this blog. Reading EVERY recipe and even printing them to try them and make notes. I have tried a chocolate mug cake before and it was pretty good, I saw the link on jessicakesblog on Facebook from some other blog i can’t remember. After that I started looking out for a Vanilla mug cake recipe and there are none, at least no one that works, most of them taste like bread to me and wront texture. As you are my new recipe guru, I plead you to develope one! You are so good in this, really, every single desert that I’ve done from your blog turns out PURRFECT! What can we substitute to turn this into a mother recipe and adjust to any flavor and thing? How about red velvet mug cakes?! Goshhh! I think I love you…

  63. Nana

A huge improvement over mug cakes with eggs! Light texture and very good. Definitely add a handful of chocolate chips! Yummy!

  64. sophia

yay!! Finally a mug cake recipe that works. I must say it hit the spot! Absolutely divine. So much better without the egg!

  65. Abby

Last night, I DREAMT of cakes…all kinds of cake…marble, red velvet, chocolate galore….all for me. Best. Dream. Ever. Until I awoke to no cake in the house and found my reality a nightmare.

Since I’m six months pregnant and apparently growing the Incredible Hulk, I knew that I couldn’t bake a cake lest I eat the entire thing. I was about to resign myself to an empty, sad, cake-less day when I stumbled upon this recipe. I’ve tried mug cakes before, which would satisfy most chocolate cravings but not a cake craving since they all turned into funny-textured mounds of chocolate chew, but in desperation, I thought I’d give it a try. Plus, peanut butter is good for babies. Or something.

I devoured this and marveled at the beauty in the world once again. This, my dear, is a recipe that dreams are made of. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  66. Honie

Hi, I want to make these sat night x4 so can I multiply the amounts x4 and divide or does it work better making each one separately

  67. Chelle

Hi! I’m not really good at baking and cooking, and if I did try it always end up a disaster! So, this mug cakes really got me curious. Oh gosh! Im so happy I tried your recipe, it’s awesome. My mug cake was a success. XD thank you very much. :)

  68. Sue

This cake did not disappoint! I wanted a small helping of dessert and I luckily found this. I substituted whole wheat flour and Splenda for the flour and sugar and it was still very good. Of course, with a little scoop of vanilla ice cream it was AWESOME!

  69. AliaaD

I just made this!!! It is perferction. It is chocolatey and it melts in my mouth and since I used chunky peanut butter, the nuts added texture to make it my most successful first try in “baking” ever!

  70. Ayla

Woah! This is so good! Even though mine just totally failed(left it in the microwave for too long) is still yummie!!

  71. Kelly Williams-Hobbs

It’s a snowy night. We’re stuck and home and I really wanted chocolate something. I saw this and 3 minutes later we were eating delicious, warm chocolate cake! I did use crunchy PB because that’s what we have! I loved the little crunchy bits. Thanks for keeping up with the tests because this was absolutely delicious!

it’s 22:42 over here and i craved cake!

and normally all the recipes for cake in a mug were to eggy and blah so i googled and found yours and it’s really heaven!
My bf said it was to dry for his taste but i love it! it’s really much better then all the cake in a mug recipies out there!
    thank you so much!!!!! :D

  73. AnnieOk

This was outstanding! Not too much peanut butter and the perfect amount of chocolate. I added a few chocolate chips and pushed a kiss down in the center. It made for a really nice creamy center almost like a lava cake. Thanks so much for this!

  74. Lynne

I too dislike most other mug cake recipes I’ve tried, but I’ve got to say this one was great! It was so much better in texture then any I’ve tried before and the chocolate and pb go great together. Thanks!

  75. Calleah

I tried it, its not the best cake I’ve ever eaten but for a microwave cake its really good especially with ice cream and peanut butter on top :)

  76. alexhya

This was is really good. I’m eating it right now. I had to add 40 seconds to the microwaving time. Thanks for the recipe.

  77. breana

just made this and it was AMAZING. perfect texture, like normal cake! i used about a tablespoon of PB2 (powdered peanut butter) and some mini semi-sweet chips and it was perfect. Maybe i’d add a little more peanut butter next time, but so great, didn’t even taste like a mug cake! great job.

  78. Ivana

Just tried these and they came out perfect! I worried about them spilling over but they didnt. I added some more chocolate and chopped hazelnuts. Will use a little bit less flour next time though. Thanks for a great recipe!

  79. Akamar

Just wanted to pipe in and add that I ran into this a couple weeks ago. It’s a complete fave. My favorite midnight cheat presently. (that said, I’ve only made it twice…)

    about to again, I think.

  80. Mish

So Yummy! I actually love it the way it is but when craving a little extra pb, I put a glob in the middle just before microwaving then it sorta makes it a little lava cake almost.

  81. Marie

This is by far the best cake mug recipe I’ve found. The texture is perfect– you really did avoid that awful spongy texture you described!

NOTE: For those having difficulties, I strongly suspect you’re measuring flour improperly. Most people do. You CANNOT scoop it out of a bag into a tablespoon and call it done! That will pack the flour densely result in almost twice as much flour as you need. Your cake will be ruined. Pour the flour into the tablespoon from another spoon, then gently level off with a straight edge (back of a knife words great). The light, fluffy flour will be the right amount. Google if you don’t believe me– there are tons of resources for how to measure flour properly. While you can get away with doing it the wrong way in a big cake, in a mug cake the tiniest mistake makes a BIG disaster.

  82. Cassie

I just made this, was so excited after reading all the reviews. It was bad. It was bland, no peanut butter taste at all and was a dry cumbly mess, and definitely not sweet enough. Sorry, I wanted to love it. :(

  83. Mary Kate

Tried these a minute ago and followed the recipe perfectly, it was…..edible I suppose. It was not moist enough, and kind of tasted like eating a piece of bread but not even that moist.. Sry I personally didn’t like it at all.

  84. Lynet

This is a pms buster! So dangerous because it’s easy, fast and amazingly delicious! I’m going to make this in cute mugs and give them to my boys teachers during teacher appreciation week! Thanks :)

  85. Quinetta

Oh my goodness. Being on bed-rest and having a sweet tooth, I immediately thought of a mug cake. I substituted hot chocolate mix for the cocoa powder and it is so good. I will definitely be making this again. Thank you so much for this post.

  86. Meari

I’ve made mug cakes before, too and thought they were spongy. Mine didn’t have egg in them, though. So not sure what makes them that way. I’m going to try this recipe… it sounds good.

  87. Nofri

I have been up all night long, watching crazy baking shows and drooling over various desserts. Unfortunatly, we are snowed in, so a trip to the grocery store was not much of an option.

    MUG CAKE TO TH RESCUE!

I had heard about these fun little recipies recently, but never bothered to give them a try. Glad to have come upon this recipie first, as the finished product was FANTASTIC. I used crunchy peanut butter, so the nuts gave it a nice soft crunch.

I doubled the recipie to make it for my boyfriend and i. Now, maybe i just have big mugs, but dare i say you can even quadruple this recipie?! Each mucch was a little less than half full of this light, fluffy bit of heaven, when doubled.

Fantastic recipie, super fun and easy to make!!!

  88. coconutz

Quite excellent! I’ve made it 3 times. Must have ice cream on top, or at least a big glass of milk. I did only make one before with egg and I like that too, but I appreciate what you are saying about this more velvety soft crumb. My friend has egg allergy and this is excellent for her.

  89. Harold in lancaster

I just made this for my wife. She was craving something sweet and hot. This recipe delivered! Next time I think I’ll add a bit of chocolate candy in the bottom or middle then invert on a plate.

  90. Nastassia D. (@TasciaD)

I’ve only ever made one other chocolate cake in a mug but I have to say your recipe tastes a lot better and the the texture is better too. My only problem is I wish it was sweeter so the next time I’m adding more sugar to it, and perhaps some chocolate chips too.

  91. Sara

First time making a mug cake. The texture-which to people seemed like a problem in general for a mug cake- was very soft and fluffy. However, there wasn’t much taste. I was hoping for a chocolately, creamy with a touch of peanut butter, but had none. It’s decent and i don’t really mind stuff, but i thought i’d share. Perhaps i should add a handful of chocolate chips on top or so? Thank you anyways!

  92. Buttercup Bento

I think I hate you! This is a seriously chocolately rich yummy cake. My 1990s microwave needed 1.30 minutes but I think a little less time next time will make it moister and yummier. The biggest downside is that I always have these ingredients in and my will power is non-existence…

  93. Anne Marie

I love this recipe! I have one question though. Should it actually read baking soda? The first time I made it I used baking soda and it came out great. The next time I realized it said powder and I adjusted accordingly, but it didn’t rise. I knew one made things rise and one didn’t but I wasn’t sure which was which. :) Thanks for sharing your recipe!

  94. Angela

Best mug cake I’ve ever made! The texture is just like real cake.
I used crunchy peanut butter and the peanut pieces were great. I also added in some chocolate chips for extra chocolatey goodness! My microwave is pretty powerful so I only cooked it for 45 seconds but I liked how I didn’t have to worry about thoroughly cooking it like I do for recipes with egg in them.
    Thanks so much!

  95. 3Cherryboys

Yay a mug cake with no egg! I always crave cake when I have run out of eggs.
I substituted with cashew nut butter as the kids ate all the peanut butter. I also replaced the oil with extra milk as there is oil in the cashew nut butter.
I mixed all the dry ingredients then mixed in the milk before adding the cashew nut butter.
I had fantastic results. Much lighter than other mug cakes I have tried

  96. I-Lin

Thanks so much for this recipe! I made it tonight, and it was so easy and delicious! The first mug cake recipe I’ve ever tried, and it came out beautifully! Light and fluffy and not too sweet. I used crunchy peanut butter, so it baked up with little bits of peanuts throughout the cake.

  97. Isabelle

Thank you so much for posting this! This was such a good mug Cake! Most of the ones I’ve tried from other sites/blogs turn out undercooked and kind of Gross! Yours was Great!

  98. Eqin

Hi there… I am pregnant and craving for chocolatey peanut buttery goodness.. but I am on modified bedrest advice by d doc. So I cant drive to my fav cupcake store or make a full blown cake [i bake alot before this.but a full blown cake is too much work. i am supposed to be in bed.. not standing by a mixer..huhu..] but this is PERFECT!!!! 3mins standing at the counter and I am back in bed with a warm mug in my hand… Love it!! I bake it in a large mug and it does not deflate as u said.. I add choc chunks for extra goey-ness. I want to add nuts the next time I bake this.

btw, i use the baking time to clean up and keep things back in the cupboard. No mess!! Super perfect!!!!!!

THANK YOU!! =) one happy baby in d tummy…

  99. Jaimee

Would this still work without the peanut butter? I’ve actually made this several times and it’s the best mug cake I’ve had hands down. But I was thinking about possibly making little gifts out of this. Putting the dry ingredients in a bag with a mug for a gift with a list of the wet ingredients and directions. But i’m wondering for those that don’t like peanut butter if it would still turn out as good without it.

    1. A woman holding a camera standing in front of some shelves.
      Jessica

What a cute idea Jaimee! To be honest, I have never tried it without peanut butter. I would test it and see what you think. If you take out the peanut butter, you might want to up the oil just a little.

Or, you could suggest they use Nutella in place of peanut butter if that’s not their thing!

  100. Honey What's Cooking

Looks amazing, I’ll be making this. I made a chocolate mug cake a few weeks ago and it was SO dry… so I hear ya!

  101. Jenni

Love this mug cake!!! Not a huge fan of chocolate, but this had a great consistency and love the peanut butter. I was out of butter so used coconut oil. Can’t wait to try again! Also subbed in one TB of brown sugar. So yummy. Thank you!

  102. Paula

I made this with a couple of modifications and loved it! I used almond butter and grapeseed oil, and added 1/4 tsp of almond extract. I also used natural cocoa, rather than Dutch-processed, for the chocolatiest flavour. It is great! DH loves it!

  103. Jennifer

OMG this is awesome!! I tried something similar previously but it didn’t have the peanut butter mixed in. That makes a huge difference!! Also, I used hot chocolate rather than plain cocoa. I like it much better. Next time I’ll stir in some chocolate chips too. ;)

  104. Hope Rene

Found this recipe…made it…eating it right now. DELISH!! Perfect topped with little scoop of ice cream. Thanks for sharing! :)

  105. alice

    YYYYYYUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  106. Blueinthesky

I’ve always had the same problem with mug cakes as you. That was, until I found this recipie… It’s amazing!! I actually enjoy eating the mug cakes I make now!

  107. Kelsey

This actually works, and made the most delicious chocolatey cake that totally hit the spot!! I used almond butter and threw in a few chocolate chips ;)

  108. Genevieve Shifke

This is hands-down the greatest mug cake I have ever tasted. Bookmarking, pinning, and never using another recipe. Pure heaven in a mug!

  109. Lisa

Okay…”The word for the day, boys & girls, is DANGEROUS. Can you say DANGEROUS?” Seriously, I have NEVER had an amazing cake mug experience. You NAILED it! I will pin this & probably quit looking for any other recipes. Your new challenge is the “cookie” in a mug…bleh:( But, this is TOPS! Will certainly share the recipe with anyone looking for the best ever cake in a mug!

  110. Betti D.

Holy moly! I just came across this blog and recipe when I googled “cake in a mug.” And I’m SO GLAD I did!! I made one for myself, the hubs, and my son and we are all super happy campers. I love, love, love this recipe :)

  111. Hana sindi

Holy Lord. I have been looking for a decent mug cake for ever! Then i found this and HAD to try it! Fell in love HARD! its delicious its nothing like other mug cakes! thank you so much! ahh best think I’ve had all week! this will be a recipe i am going to remember! <3

  112. Beth

Just made this and it was awesome! Such a great epiphany on the effect of the egg. I subbed almond milk for dairy milk and it turned out great.

  113. MsQue

WOW-I have never been a fan of mug cakes. But everything about this recipe appealed to me, and I loved it! Excellent! I had to make a few changes since I was out of milk-used rice milk, sugar-used brown sugar…topped with a lil chocolate syrup and yum. Will definitely eat this again, and again!

  114. Mrs Kelly

The flavors are still swirling around on my mouth and settling into my tummy as I type. Wow! That was wayyyy too good! And way too easy too. Vewy vewy dangerous! I did remove a “little” of the guilt by subbing a few things. Used whole wheat flour, honey, coconut oil, and almond milk. Also added 1/4 tsp vanilla, just for good luck. It was sinfully delicious! I need to delete this recipe and never see it again (yea, right)! ;)

  115. kat

how big is the mug supposed to be? How many ounces? This sounds awesome but I can already see the mess in my microwave:-)

  116. Nai

Ok…I’ve been experimenting with mug cakes lately & this is the BEST mug cake recipe yet! Next time I’ll try it with a sugar substitute, or bananas hope it works)! Thanks for this :-)

  117. Diana

I found this recipe and it looked super yummy, so I decided to give it a try. I don’t know what happened but this didn’t work out for me! I put the mix in a mug and into the microwave for 1:10. I took it out and it looked the same as when i put it in :( it was raw! It bubbled a lot and eventually settled down. I even heated it longer and it just didn’t turn out right. Any idea of what went wrong?

  118. Kritty

First attempt at a mug cake ever, and I was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out! Very tasty, and not too messy, but this may be because I used a bigger mug and watered-down sour cream since we just ran out of milk yesterday. I’m sneaking one into roomie’s lunchbox for tomorrow, so you’ll have another fan soon. Thanks for doing the trials so us lazy folks can get straight to the goods!

  119. Kim

I also just made this mug cake, and unlike Paula (above) it turned out really well. However, I think the original recipe should explicitly tell people to mix the wet ingredients in a separate bowl or mug before adding them to the flour mixture. That way you can use a fork “liquify” the peanut butter, or at least break it down until you have little chunks of peanut butter suspended in oil and milk. Then when you combine the wet and dry ingredients, the flour is beaten for as little time as possible…which means a more tender cake! It was moist and chocolatly with just the right amount of peanut butter. More importantly, the portion size was perfect!

  120. Paula

I just made this cake. I was very disappointed! It came out dry and did not taste very chocolates at all. It wasn’t that it had too much peanut butter, because it lacked peanut flavor as well! Overall, it was a rather large let down. Does anyone know of a better, fool-proof recipe for a microwave mug cake?

  121. Jamie

wonderful! I used coconut oil because I thought it would be a nice touch and it was. Just a note in the background but good. The texture was perfect…moist, light and fluffy all at once, Just like cake should be. Also I tossed a few chocolate chips on top before cooking and didn’t mix in, most stayed on top and it was kind of like a fudge type topping. This is a keeper, Thank you so much for sharing!

  122. Pam

I have an idea I hope would be helpful to anyone who doesn’t have a microwave but wants to try this delicious recipe……..make up 2 mugs and take both over to a neighbor who does and 70 seconds later one of you will be diving into this delight while the 2nd person awaits their 70 seconds to be complete! Make sure you bring a copy of the recipe for your neighbor…..they will most certainly want that.

  123. Pam

Thanks for a fast easy and fun treat! Made these 5 times now and always turn out great! Love the soft fluffy warm texture :-) On my latest one I sprinkled a shy quarter cup of chocolate chips on top the warm cake…the chips softened into a perfect frosting.

  124. Kimberlee

I HATE MUG CAKES! So when I got a huge craving for one, googled it, and happened to pick your post, I must have been out of my mind. Through the fog of insanity, I threw together the ingredients with walnuts into a large mug. I just inhaled your yummy concoction and have to say THANK YOU!!! If I make a full size dessert I will eat the whole thing. Now I have the secret to single serving yumminess! Did I say THANK YOU?!!!

  125. Renee

I’ve just made this and wow – it’s a huge serving! I think I overdosed on chocolate! But the first few mouthfuls were divine :-)

  126. Anne M

This looks good but I have real issues with microwaves and won’t have one in my house – can it be baked in a regular oven?

    1. A woman holding a camera standing in front of some shelves.
      Jessica

Sorry Anne, but the recipe was specifically made for the microwave. You are more than welcome to try it in the oven, but I have no idea how it would come out.

  127. Kirsten

That was delicious and worked perfectly. I made it with chunky peanut butter so I would feel like it had some kind of chips in it. Yum. Do you know of any good plain chocolate mug cake recipes? My daughter doesn’t like nuts or nut butters and she wants to try a mug cake soon.

    1. A woman holding a camera standing in front of some shelves.
      Jessica

How does she feel about Nutella? If you added Nutella instead of peanut butter, it would just be a lot more chocolatey!

You could also probably leave out a butter completely, it just might be a little more dry. If it is, add in a splash more oil!

Let me know how it turns out if you try something different! :)

  128. Geenuhfuh

This may just be the most amazing thing I have ever made and eaten in less than five minutes. Incredibly delicious with walnuts!

  129. Heather

This was awesome and it’ll be my go-to recipe any time I have a chocolate craving! Even more amazing is that it’s ready in under 5 minutes. I used Nutella because I was out of peanut butter and can’t wait to try it again with PB. Thanks for sharing this!

  130. Heather

Just made this and it was SO good! Loved the peanut butter and the fact that it didn’t use an egg. Best mug cake ever and totally satisfied my craving although I think it might be a bad thing that I now have this recipe and all of the ingredients on hand!

  131. SuziRoo

I made a few adjustments: rice milk and powdered honey instead of sugar. I also added PB chips. My result was okay. Next time I think I’ll stick with sugar and add chocolate chips instead.

  132. Carolina

This was, hands down, the BEST mug cake I have ever made. It was so soft and peanut buttery! Lol The only change I made was that I used chocolate syrup instead of powder(because I was out.) And it may have made it a bit gooier than with powder, but it was still delicious! Other mug cakes end up tasting like a flavored sponge–but not this one! I think I have found a new blog to follow because if your other recipes are HALF as good as this one then I will not be dissappointed!
    Carolina (:

  133. Sarah

I love this! definitely the best mug cake I’ve had. I substituted the milk for almond milk since we were out of regular and it worked just fine. This will be my go to mug cake from now on :)

  134. Liane Blanco

This is pretty good! I left mine in a few seconds too long – better to leave some gooeyness, I think (is gooeyness a word?)

Anyway, delicious! Thank you for the recipe. Next time I’m going to add walnuts – super yummy!

  135. Lipi

You are a genius! My earlier mug cake attempt had failed with a super spongy cake (obviously with egg). I tried your eggless recipe right now and the result is delicious! Thank you so much :)

  136. Peanut Butter Spread

This chocolate peanut butter mug cake looks absolutely mouthwatering. Thanks for the amazing recipe.

  137. Kelli

You are a miracle worker! This is by far the most amazing mug cake (possibly cake in general?) that I have ever had. I decided to treat myself for being good today and wow! You made my week. The texture was heaven and there were a few not quite done spots that tasted like melted chocolate chips! Ah!

Just made this & it turned out great! I used crunchy peanut butter. Topped it with cool whip. Yummy! Thanks!

  139. Angie @ Big Bear's Wife

ooo and PS.. I AM in LOVE with those mugs! Like I need that orange poka dot one in my life right now. please tell me where you got them

  140. Angie @ Big Bear's Wife

Nice! I’ve made a few mug cakes before and I too hated the sponge cake texture. It was like… ehh… ok.. another fail. But this post makes total sense! I’ll be trying this soon!

  141. Melissa

I just made this mug cake for both my boyfriend and I and it is amazing! I am actually a dietetic intern right now and I think that this is a great idea for people who would like a treat once in a while, but cannot have a whole cake in the house(or they eat the whole thing!).
I’m all for healthy eating, but we all need a treat once in a while :)
Awesome! Thank you for the great recipe!

  142. Alaina @ Fabtastic Eats

oh my goodness..I committed to a sugar free march…its crazy and I don’t know what I was thinking..Im dyiiing…I have been seeing sweets everyday..(obviously) but this one makes me want to break my promise immediately..chocolate always gets me worst at night…maybe I can make it and start over tomorrow..is that cheating?! Again, What was I thinking?! I can’t wait for this month to be over to try this!! “Pinning!” (Im totally saying that in my best Charlie Sheen voice..nerd alert, I know!) hah

  143. Kate

This recipe is dangerous. I’m a student trying to fight off late-night, carb-filled snacks. Guess whose plan just got derailed?

    Some modifications people could try:
Natural peanut butter instead of the “normal” stuff
Honey in place of some of the sugar
Applesauce or baby food prunes in place of some of the oil
    Vanilla!
    Cinnamon?
Whipped cream or icing or vanilla Greek frozen yogurt on top

  144. Victoria V

Just made this for a snack today. So tasty! And I loooove that there’s no egg in it. Thanks for the tasty recipe!

  145. Kiersten @ Oh My Veggies

Mug cakes are the ultimate dessert of desperation, right? :) I’m glad to finally have a recipe in my mug cake arsenal that tastes as good as it looks–I can’t wait to try it!

  146. Pocket Pittie in the City

NOM NOM NOM…we made these and they were nom nom nommy!!! I would totally make them again. Though I’m such a peanut butter-aholic that I may up the PB! So gooooood!

  147. Lauren

Hi Jessica, your pictures are gorgeous! I just came here from Foodgawker, and I love mug cakes, so this is right up my alley! I love the combination of chocolate and peanut butter, so I’ll definitely have to try this out! :-)

  148. Jenn

Just made one of these, but didn’t have peanut butter on hand, so I totally used Biscoff spread….immensely tasty and worked perfectly!

  149. Karly

I haven’t tried the mug cakes before…I’ve always imagined they’d be spongy! Glad to hear you’ve figured out a way around it so I can enjoy one of these bad boys!

  150. Sues

How pretty are these?? Seriously beautiful. And I NEED those mugs!!! (and one of these cakes in front of my face right now!!)

  151. Erin @ Dinners, Dishes and Desserts

I am with you – mug cakes are always spongy, and just off. But dang, now I am going to have to re think everything!

  152. Tina | My Life as a Mrs

I’m with ya on the mug cake debacle… daggum it – now I’m gonna have to try these (I had written off mug cakes all together lol)

  153. Hope @ Hanna Bananas Boutique

My daughter is going to love doing this!
This is on the menu for girls things to do this weekend! Thanks for sharing, this is awesome!

  154. Megan {Country Cleaver}

I’m with Julie – I’ve been on a chocolate kick and this totally came up at the Exact right moment – I’m on my way to make it now!! I mean it!

  155. Agos

I just made this for breakfast and it was so good! The only mug cake I’ve tried that had a real cake texture. Although the flavor was too peanut buttery, I almost couldn’t taste the chocolate. Do you think the peanut butter could be replaced with something else?

    1. A woman holding a camera standing in front of some shelves.
      Jessica

Sure! You can replace it with something like Nutella for a more chocolate flavor or one of the cookie spreads like Biscoff!

    1. Arwen Whiteford

I just loved this recipe!! The first time I made this, I noticed I was out of peanut butter, so I used 3 tablespoons of sugar instead – turned out amazing!! So now, I have modified it a bit – I double the quantity of everything, sans peanut butter and microwave it for exactly 5 minutes on high – turns out to be this perfect moist spongy soft cocoa cake that doesn’t deflate and lasts for about 2 tea times… I can’t thank you enough for this, my husband and I love it!!

  156. Julie @ Table for Two

SOOOO I had a HUGE chocolate craving 15 minutes ago while I was going through my Google Reader and your post came up and I literally grabbed my phone and went into the kitchen and made this. I ate it so fast. I’ve never had a mug cake in my entire life and you have made me a believer. I don’t think I’ll ever add the egg in because I don’t like spongy textured cakes all too much. ANYWAY, long story short – you are amazing, I love you, and thank you for filling my chocolate craving. That was seriously the best thing I ate this week. I’m hooked. I probably will be making way more of these and adapting them with flavors haha :) xoxo

    1. A woman holding a camera standing in front of some shelves.
      Jessica

YAYYY!! It’s always SO nice to hear that someone else liked it too. Were you all kinds of nervous when the cake like almost blew up and then shrank back down? Cause the first two times I was convinced it was going to explode in my microwave… ;-) haha

  157. Stephanie @ Eat. Drink. Love.

Yes! I have disliked mug cakes for the same reason. I’m most definitely giving this one a try!

  158. Rachel @ Baked by Rachel

I’ve been so skeptical of mug cakes that I’ve yet to try it yet but I may just have to now!

  159. Whitney @ The Newlywed Chefs

Jessica, this cake looks out of this world! Can’t wait to try this one- we’ve never attempted a mug cake before. Yummm!

  160. Pam C

I’ve never tried (and never wanted to try) mug cakes until now. I know what I’m going to be making for dessert tonight!

P.S. I hate to be the one to point it out, but “chocolate” is spelled a bit differently in the first photo of the post. =X

    1. A woman holding a camera standing in front of some shelves.
      Jessica

Whhhattt? Don’t you know all the cool kids are spelling it Chocoalte now? Well…it’s either that or my editing software doesn’t have spell check. ;)

  161. Erin R.

No, no! You’re coming at the banana problem from the wrong side. If you open one, use half and then show Jorge the poor little spare half lying there on the table, do you think he’d agree to handle it for you? (grin)

Also, for the first time ever, I’m tempted to try making a mug cake. I’ve only ever heard bad news about them, like they’re one of those fake, weird desserts people make just for the sake of having something chocolaty. It never seemed worth it to me. But this actually looks GOOD! Pinned!

    1. A woman holding a camera standing in front of some shelves.
      Jessica

SO TRUE! I can just get that banana crazed husband to eat the other half…but since he travels 50% of that time, I somehow always crave mug cake when he’s not home!

    2. Mary Rioux

Try using a dinner fork to stir it up and be sure to scrape the sides of the mug .  for the left over banana half. Cover with the peel. Put in baggie and freeze.  For a fast snack slice frozen banana on a small plate. Pour Magic Shell chocolate (or any other dessert syrup or topping ) over and enjoy “banana ice cream” .  melted jam (10 seconds in microwave)  is great as is Nutella. )  so is any other fruit blended into a sauce, especially frozen strawberries…

who would have thought that one egg could make such a difference! I’ve actually never had a mug cake but I think I’m going to have to start making them after seeing this!

I have to admit that I’ve never made mug cakes, I’m just not crazy about making anything in the microwave since I only use it for heating up stuff. Question though, how essential is the peanut butter? I’m not too crazy about it (gasp!), so it would be something I would like to skip. Thoughts?

    this is amazing because:

1.) I have all these ingredients laying in my cabinets
2.) I like when things are easy
3.) I have become OBSESSED with Peanut Butter & Company’s “Bees Knees” PB and have been dyinggg to bake it into something!

also, love your mugs. great post! xx

Okay, I’m totally sold. I have tried mug cakes in the past and been disappointed but this looks awesome.

I have never commented on a blog before, but I had to say this is the best mug cake I have made! And yes, I made it for breakfast and it was delicious! Thanks for FINALLY giving me a way to have a yummy cake in less than five minutes!

Is it bad that I’m totally tempted to make this for breakfast this morning? One mug for coffee and one mug for cake! :D Hey, it’s Friday…it’s allowed. ;-)

I love that you stuck with the mugcake trials b/c I agree, they can be realllllllly hard to get right. Either raw, dried-and-fried, gloppy, gummy, or all of the above in one item! No egg, just banana. Reminds me of my vegan cooking days when I used to make all my muffins in the oven without eggs and just bananas. Need to try this!

Knowing how to make this is going to be very dangerous. If my pants don’t fit in a couple weeks you are going to be directly to blame :)

Sadly enough, I don’t have a microwave! But I have a good friend that does and LOVES mug cakes–I’ll be sure to pass this along!
