2014 Gift Guide on www.thenovicechefblog.com

It’s my favorite time of the year where I tell you what to spend your hard earned money on! Also know as a Gift Guide! I started saving things in October for the list this year and it kept growing and growing. I have weeded it down to my favorite things I bought in 2014 and the things I wish I had.

iphone thermometer (2014 gift guide via www.thenovicechefblog.com)

For the cook: iPhone/iPad thermometer

I have a $4 probe thermometer from ikea and it sucks. I am one of those people who is obsessed with cooking meat to the exact right temperature. Undercooked chicken freaks me out and dry meat is a waste. I would love this awesome thermometer that plugs into your iPhone or iPad! I’m just too cheap to buy it. 😉

Monogrammed Tote from West Elm (2014 Gift Guide www.thenovicechefblog.com)

For that chic friend of yours: Monogrammed Tote

I am obsessed with gold everything this year (…but then again, who isn’t? It’s practically the color of the year). When I saw this monogrammed tote on West Elm I knew I would eventually be loosing another chunk of change to them. Here’s hoping it goes on sale after Christmas!

For the caffeine addict: Nespresso Pixie with Aeroccino milk frother

I am still obsessed with my Nespresso. I would much rather come home and make myself a cappuccino/latte than order one from Starbucks. And no – I haven’t been paid to say that! Our Nespresso has been put to the test with entertaining this year and is still in amazing shape. At my baby shower everyone wanted a cup and we had over 20 ladies (thank god it heats in like 30 seconds)! My favorite espresso flavor is the Arpeggio.

Coasters (2014 Gift Guide via www.thenovicechefblog.com)

For the hostess: Tribal Print Coasters

I bought these coasters early last year to protect the farmhouse table that my Dad and I made. I love them SO much. They are made of stone and have a nice cork backing. They are so original and I really enjoy the different patterns. After tons of daily use, they still look brand new.

salami of the month club

For the meat lover: Salami of the Month Club

My Dad started my love of cured/dried meats at a very young age and it has only continued to grow as I have gotten older and discovered new kinds. I can seriously make a meal out of cheese & any kind of cured sausage! I would absolutely love to get a new salami every month to try! However, I must say that my favorite salami I have ever tried is from Creminelli.

Scene Plus for iPhone 6 (2014 Gift Guide via www.thenovicechefblog.com)

For the girl who can’t put her iPhone down (i.e. me): Scene Plus iPhone 6 Case

I already admitted that I am obsessed with gold this year, so this should come as no surprise. The only reason I haven’t bought it yet? I am still considering these other two (one & two) over the top sparkly gold cases. Since I already dropped and shattered one iPhone this year, I am trying to decide which option would provide the most protection.

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer & Dryer (2014 Gift Guide via www.thenovicechefblog.com)

For the “I hate laundry” person: Whirlpool Cabrio Washer & Dryer

Our washer started eating our clothes and we had no choice but to buy new ones. We had front loaders before and I hated the smell that it would get. Leaving the door open all the time drove me crazy. I did a ton of research and found that they make top loaders that are just as energy efficient as the front loaders…and they removed the agitator.

But the best part? It’s 4.8 cubic feet inside. Don’t know what that means? That means you can fit a TON of clothes in it. I did a weeks worth of our clothes (just Jorge & I – not the girls) in one load. ONE LOAD people! And I still had room to add more if I wanted! So worth the money.

grow shitake mushrooms on a log!

For the DIY-er: Grow Shitake Mushrooms on a Log

Or you can do this with Oyster Mushrooms out of a box. Either way is pretty dang awesome.

Lavender Vanilla Pillow Mist (2014 gift guide www.thenovicechefblog.com)

For the insomniac: Lavender Vanilla Pillow Mist

I spray this on my sheets every night before I go to bed. They should sell this stuff by the gallon.

Mikasa Gold Glassware (2014 Gift Guide www.thenovicechefblog.com)

For the cocktail drinker: Mikasa Gold (comes in many different style glassware)

I saw these in person at Dillard’s and they are stunning! I want a set of 8 in all the different styles! I swear this is the last gold thing in this list. Pinky promise.

Cat Mugs (2014 Gift Guide www.thenovicechefblog.com)

For the crazy cat lady: Cat Coffee Mugs by Marljohns

Well, I happen to be the crazy cat lady. And I want these. I can just see Jorge and I sitting on the porch on a chilly Sunday morning sipping cappuccinos we made together out of these mugs.

What I really see is Jorge holding Lyla by one leg and me being spit up on by Ellie at 5 am…all while our adorable coffee mugs sit lonely on the counter letting our coffee get ice cold. But hey, at least the mugs would be cute!

Jeni's Ice Cream

For the sweet tooth: Jeni’s Ice Cream

You can get two pints of Jeni’s ice cream and a gravel for only $29! Will you please all toss in a dollar and order me the Brambleberry Crisp and Sweet Potato with Torched Marshmallows? Pretty please??

Reef's Stargazer Flip Flops (2014 Gift Guide www.thenovicechefblog.com)

For the flip flopper: Reef’s Stargazer

I live in Florida where we wear flip flops year round. These Reef’s are my favorite flip flops in the whole wide world. They are incredibly comfortable and I wear them almost daily to walk the dog and run errands. If you don’t wear flip flops every single day, these also make a wonderful pair of beach flip flops for vacation. P. S. I have always paid full price for these at Dillard’s. Who knew they were on Amazon for cheaper!

animal card holder magnets

For the cheese lover: Animal Magnets & Card Holders

I LOVE CHEESE. If there is one thing you should know about me, it’s that. If there is a cheese plate out at a party, you will always find me within 3 feet of it. I have not met a cheese I don’t like yet — and trust me when I tell you I have eaten a whole lot of stinky cheese. Anyways, I would love to have these adorable animal card holders to use to let guest know which cheeses are which.

Hedgehog Crumb Brush (2014 Gift Guide www.thenovicechefblog.com)

For your White Elephant/Secret Santa: Hedgehog Crumb Brush

Because who wouldn’t want to brush crumbs off the table with a hedgehog?? And if you want to feel elitist, you can buy it at Anthropologie for over double the price of Crate&Barrel. Oh Anthro, you are so ridiculous.
