Sweet Potato Pie Smoothie

 

It’s time to change up your breakfast game with this Sweet Potato Pie Smoothie! It’s made with just 4 ingredients and only takes 5 minutes to whip up. Bonus points: this recipe is healthy, vegan and gluten free!

I partnered with Bruce’s Yams to bring you this new spin on easy sweet potato recipes. I am really excited for this opportunity — we all know I am a huge sweet potato fan and eat them all year round.

But in spite of my love of all things yam, I had not had them in a smoothie before. This was seriously a revelation for me and I have made this for breakfast three days in a row!

This recipe makes enough for two smoothies. The twins inherited their love of sweet potatoes from me, but aren’t big fans of my usual green smoothies.

I hesitantly handed them each a a smoothie and was shocked to watch them suck them down in record time. If this healthy sweet potato recipe passed the taste test of two 2 year olds, you know it’s gotta be good!

These Sweet Potato Pie Smoothies come together in just a few minutes in your blender. You just need four ingredients: Bruce’s Yams Cut Sweet Potatoes, a banana, unsweetened almond milk and a pinch of cinnamon.

You drain the canned sweet potatoes and then toss everything in the blender together and puree until smooth. It’s that easy!

One thing I love about the Bruce’s Yams brand is the simplicity of the ingredients and lack of names I can not pronounce.

In the can of Bruce’s Yams Cut Sweet Potatoes that we use for these smoothies, there are just 3 ingredients: Sweet Potatoes, Water and Sugar. Yup, that’s it!

Since it’s already hot again down here in Florida, I froze my banana overnight before making my smoothie. I don’t love adding ice to my smoothies, because I think it waters them down, but I find if I freeze some of the ingredients overnight I get the same effect.

Ingredients

  • 1 (15 oz.) can Bruce’s Yams Cut Sweet Potatoes, drained
  • 1 large banana
  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Combine Bruce’s Yams Cut Sweet Potatoes, banana, almond milk and cinnamon in a blender or smoothie/drink maker, and blend until smooth.
  2. Blend with ice or serve over ice, if desired.

    I made this today for breakfast and shared it with my husband. It was so good – we are huge sweet potato fans. Loved how easy it was. Used regular milk.
