Why brine a turkey?

Brining a turkey is super easy, you just need a handful of ingredients. The brine boosts the flavor and makes your turkey extra juicy. You can customize recipe as well to add your own custom flavors.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Salt and water are all you need as a base. This recipe also calls for dark brown sugar, vegetable stock, black peppercorns, allspice berries, garlic and ice water.

Step 1 - Boil and Cool Boil all ingredients over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. Cool brine to room temperature then pour brine and ice water into container large enough to hold your bird.

Step 2 - Brine Place thawed turkey in container, breast-side-down. Be sure that turkey is completely submerged. Cover and refrigerate for 6-8 hours, turning turkey over halfway through.

6-8 hours is minimum, aim for hour per pound but no longer than 48 hours. Rinse turkey before roasting and seasoning.
