WHAT YOU'LL NEED

You'll need potatoes, milk, sugar, and a few other simple ingredients to make this easy recipe.

Step 1. Bring potatoes to a boil and cook until fork-tender, then drain and mash.

Step 2. Combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a stand mixer and let proof for 5 minutes until bubbly.

Step 3. Add the bread flour, all-purpose flour, and salt to the yeast mixture and mix until combined.

Step 4. Mix in the potato water, mashed potatoes, shortening, and butter, until the dough comes together.

Step 5. Knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until it can be stretched out without breaking.

Step 6. Form the dough into a ball, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise until doubled in size.

Step 7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to deflate it.

Step 8. On a clean, floured surface, press the dough into a rectangle and cut it into 16 squares.

Step 9. Roll each dough piece, and pinch it together until you have a smooth dinner roll shape.

Step 10. Place the rolled dough pieces into a greased 9×13 baking dish.

Step 11. Lightly cover the rolls, and let them rise again.

Step 12. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown and baked through.

Serve warm, with melted butter brushed on top. Enjoy!
