EASY CHRISTMAS SUGAR COOKIES WITH ICING

CAN THESE BE MADE IN ADVANCE?

If you’d like to get a jump on the holiday season, these cookies are perfect for making ahead! The dough can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen, or you can freeze the baked, decorated cookies for up to 3 months.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Flour Baking Powder Salt Spices Butter Sugar Egg Vanilla Powdered Sugar Meringue Powder Water

Step 1. Whisk the dry ingredients together in a small bowl.

Step 2. Beat the butter and sugars in a stand mixer, then add the egg and vanilla and beat again.

Step 3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

Step 4. Roll the dough out on a floured surface and cut out cookies.  Re-roll the scraps of dough and continue cutting.

Step 5. Bake cookies for about 10 minutes, then let them cool on the pan for 5-8 minutes.

Step 6. Combine the icing ingredients, then drizzle in the water and whisk with a mixer for 4-5 minutes.

Step 7. Spoon the icing into a piping bag,  Cut a small hole in the tip, and decorate cookies as desired.
