Mac and Cheese with Broccoli

What type of cheese should I use?

At least one sharp, bold cheese is recommended to ensure the dish doesn't turn out too bland. Try cheddar, Gruyere, gouda, or havarti for this creamy, cozy, Mac and Cheese with Broccoli!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

You'll need elbow macaroni, broccoli florets, and a few other simple ingredients to make this easy recipe.

Step 1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, and salt it generously. Add the pasta and cook for 5 minutes.

Step 2. Add the broccoli along with the pasta, and cook it for 3 minutes. Drain, and set aside.

Step 3. Melt butter and flour in a pot and whisk until golden-brown, making a roux.

Step 4. Pour in the milk and heavy cream, and whisk constantly to prevent lumps.

Step 5. Season sauce with salt and pepper and let it simmer until it thickens enough to coat a spoon.

Step 6. Take the sauce off of the heat, and fold in your shredded cheese until it’s fully melted.

Step 7. Mix the drained broccoli and pasta into the cheese sauce until well incorporated.

Garnish with fresh parsley and serve. Enjoy!
