HOW TO MAKE MADUROS

What are maduros?

Maduros are pan-fried sweet plantains.  They are crispy, sweet and caramelized on the outside, with a soft, warm center. This is a staple side dish in Latin and Caribbean cuisines, and it pairs especially well with pork recipes!

2 Simple Ingredients

Butter Plantains (very ripe!)

Step 1. Peel and slice the plantains, and melt the butter in a non-stick skillet.

Step 2. Fry the plantains for 2-3 minutes per side, until caramelized.

Step 3. Transfer to a paper-lined plate to drain for a minute, then serve warm.

Maduros are a sweet addition to a savory meal.  Try them alongside Pernil, Ropa Vieja, or Arroz Con Gandules!
