Peppermint Oreo Truffle Balls are absolutely what Christmas spirit tastes like. And, not only are these chocolate and peppermint truffles mouth-wateringly good, they may just be the most photogenic treats on my cookie tray this year!
It will blow you away when you see how easy it is to make these Christmas cookies. Once you have the Oreo cookie dough formed, you basically just mold it around a peppermint Hershey’s kiss, dunk the whole thing in chocolate, and then decorate.
I know everybody loves the smell of freshly baked cookies around Christmas time, but don’t cheat yourself out of making these no bake truffles; they’re not to be missed!

Recipe Ingredients
Ready to spread some Christmas joy? These are the ingredients you’ll need for your mini chocolate-covered masterpieces. (Find the full printable recipe at the bottom of this post!)
- Oreos: You’ll need to remove the filling.
- Cream Cheese: I use full fat regular cream cheese. Make sure to let it soften before using.
- Pure Vanilla Extract
- Crushed Peppermints: Or you can also crush up candy canes. My kids love helping, so I usually let them do this part. You have never seen a happier 3 year old boy than my son with a mallet and a ziplock bag filled with mini candy canes.
- Peppermint White Chocolate Kisses: You can always use another flavor, but these look so festive! You will find them in stores starting usually around the end of October, but you can also find them on amazon: Peppermint White Chocolate Kisses
- Milk Chocolate Melting Wafers: I like to use Ghirardelli Melting Wafers (they are usually much cheaper in store than on amazon!). They tend to preform the best for dipped dessert treats like these. If you don’t want to use melting wafers, you can also use bars of milk chocolate.
- White Chocolate Melting Wafers: Again, if you prefer, you can use another high quality white chocolate instead of melting wafers.
How to Make Peppermint Oreo Truffle Balls
Once you have everything you need, there are just 10 easy steps to follow. You can have these chocolate truffles decorated and drying in no time!
Line Baking Pan: Prepare a baking tray with parchment paper or wax paper and set aside.
Beat Cream Cheese: Whip the cream cheese until light and fluffy, then pour in the vanilla extract and whip again until smooth.
Add Peppermints: Pour half of the crushed peppermints into the cream cheese and stir to combine. Pour in the crushed Oreos and stir again until combined.
Form Cookie Balls: Using a 1-inch cookie scoop or your hands scoop out a one inch ball of Oreo mixture. Press a Hersheyโs kiss into the center of the dough and form the dough around it, then roll it into a ball and place on prepared baking sheet.
Refrigerate: Repeat the process until all of the Oreo mixture has been used. Refrigerate balls for 30 minutes, or until they are fairly chilled.
Melt Chocolate: Five minutes before removing the Oreo balls from the fridge, heat the white chocolate in the microwave, thirty seconds at a time, stirring between each time until smooth and runny. Repeat the melting process for the milk chocolate as well.
Dip into Chocolate: Remove the Oreo balls from the fridge and use a fork to dip each Oreo balls individually into the white chocolate or milk chocolate. (I like to do half milk chocolate and half white chocolate.) Set them back onto the baking tray to let them cool completely. The chocolate will harden quickly because the Oreo balls are chilled!
Decorate: If the chocolate you dipped the balls into has hardened a bit, microwave it for another 30 seconds, stir and then drizzle the milk chocolate dipped balls with white chocolate and sprinkle them immediately with the remaining crushed peppermints.
Decorate Some More: Repeat the process with the milk chocolate drizzled onto the white chocolate balls and sprinkle them with crushed peppermint or candy canes as well.
Serve: Let them cool completely then serve!
Tips for Success
See? Totally simple! But, if you’re looking for some tips before you get started, I’ve got you covered:
- Freeze the Cookie Balls: Refrigerating the Oreo balls should do the trick, but if you want to really ensure that they hold their shape, you can freeze them instead.
- Fast Hardening Chocolate: Chilling the Oreo balls will also help the chocolate harden quickly. Another good reason to chill your Oreo balls before you dip them!
- How to Crush Peppermints: You can crush them by hand in a bag with a rolling pin, or you can use a food processor.
- For Stronger Peppermint Flavor: Add a splash of peppermint extract!
Variation Ideas
So, while these truffles are totally delicious as is, there are some other add-ons that I highly recommend trying:
- Chocolate Chips
- Red and Green Sprinkles
- Chopped Nuts
- Crushed Pretzels
- More Crushed Oreos!
*You could also try using another flavor of Oreos for the “cookie dough.”
How to Store Peppermint Oreo Truffle Balls
These peppermint Oreo balls can be stored for up to 1 week in an airtight container in the fridge. Because of the cream cheese, make sure you do not store these at room temperature.
They can also be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.
