A Fun Christmas Candy the Kids Will Love
I donโt know about you, but for me, watching The Grinch every year was one of my favorite holiday traditions. These days, there are quite a few Grinch movie options out there, but one thingโs for sure: everyoneโs favorite green anti-hero is still a family favorite – and the inspiration for this fun neon-green fudge with cute candy hearts. Kids and adults alike will enjoy this sweet Christmas treat.
You can make a pan of this fudge for a Christmas-y movie night, to share with friends, or to contribute to a festive cookie swap. The vibrant red hearts (that are definitely not two sizes too small) make the green color really pop, while the sweet taste of white chocolate is super indulgent – cut the squares small, because these are definitely rich!

What Is White Chocolate Fudge Made Of?
If youโve never had white chocolate fudge, you may be wondering just how to make it. No worries, itโs incredibly easy. Hereโs what youโll need:
- White Chocolate Chips: These are the base of the fudge, so reach for high-quality white chocolate chips.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk: This syrupy-sweet ingredient is not the same as evaporated milk, even though their packaging is similar, so double-check before you buy.
- Green Food Coloring
- Candy Hearts: Red candy heart sprinkles give this recipe its Grinchy flair.
- Optional Flavorings and Mix-Ins: Use whatever you like, from chopped nuts to mint extract. See the Helpful Hints section for more ideas!
What Is the Best Food Coloring to Use?
If you are looking for a vibrant color, gel food coloring is a great choice. Regular food coloring tends to be a little less saturated in color, but it will still work well if thatโs what you have. There are also natural dyes that may not be quite as bright, but work well especially if you are catering to specific dietary needs.
Letโs Make Grinch Fudge!
The cooking process for this recipe is so easy, you might want to make multiple batches. No baking required, just melting the white chocolate chips on the stovetop or in the microwave.
- Prep Your Pan. To keep the fudge from getting stuck in the pan, I recommend lining your pan with parchment paper. You can leave some of the paper hanging over the sides of the pan for easy lifting, too. If you donโt have parchment, you can use greased foil, or just grease the pan itself.
- Melt the White Chocolate. This step can be done on the stove or in the microwave. For the stovetop, place your white chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan, and warm it up over medium heat. Stir constantly until the chocolate has completely melted. For the microwave, place the white chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in a microwave-safe mixing bowl, and microwave on HIGH for 90 seconds, stopping and stirring every 30 seconds.
- Add Food Coloring and Optional Ingredients. Once your chocolate and condensed milk are smooth, add 8 – 10 drops of food coloring and stir well to make an evenly-colored mixture. Fold in your flavorings and mix-ins – donโt stir, or you will end up with air bubbles in the fudge.
- Pour Into Pan and Add Heart Sprinkles. Pour the fudge mixture into your prepared pan, using a rubber spatula to scrape the bowl. Carefully place 25 red heart sprinkles onto the fudge, about an inch apart.
- Chill. Place the candy into your refrigerator, and chill for at least 2 hours, or until the fudge is set.
- Cut and Enjoy! Once the fudge is fully set, take it out of the pan by lifting the edges of the parchment. Cut the fudge into 16 squares, and serve.
Helpful Hints for Perfect Grinch Fudge
And thatโs it! The easiest Christmas treat youโll make all season, and the most colorful, too. This quick, fun dessert is also super tasty, especially with these helpful tips:
- Quality Chocolate: Youโll taste the difference if you use good-quality chocolate, like Ghirardelli white chocolate chips.
- Stir Slowly: Stir the fudge mixture slowly when melting the ingredients and adding the food coloring. Stirring too quickly will allow more air into the mixture, causing air pockets and bubbles in the fudge.
- Room Temperature: If you donโt want to serve cold fudge, you can let it set on the counter, but it will set faster in the fridge. In a pinch, you can also chill the fudge quickly in the freezer, just donโt forget itโs in there!
- Mix-Ins and Flavorings: Want more flavoring ideas? Add a teaspoon of your favorite extract, such as peppermint, vanilla, and almond. You can also add crushed peppermints or candy canes, chopped cookies (think Oreos, Nilla Wafers, graham crackers, etc.), chopped nuts, or crushed pretzels.
Storing and Freezing
To keep the fudge from melting, I recommend storing it in the fridge. You can also freeze Grinch fudge for longer storage. Either way, wrap it up well so that it stays fresh.
- Fridge: Store the fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
- Freeze: Grinch fudge can be frozen for up to three months. I like to wrap my fudge with plastic wrap, and then place it in a freezer-safe zip-top bag. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving.

- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the white chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. Continuously stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Stir in 8-10 drops of green food coloring, until well incorporated and no streaks of white remain. Fold in any optional flavorings you would like now. (Stirring too vigorously will allow more air into the mixture causing air pockets that create holes once the fudge is set. So try not to over-stir.)
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan. Gently press 25 red heart sprinkles approximately 1 inch apart into the top of the fudge. Refrigerate for at least two hours until set.
- Once set, remove the fudge from the pan by lifting up the parchment paper, and cut into 16 squares.
